Yannis Fafoutakis (b.1986, Athens) began his journey in the world of images with an unexpected turn: from engineering studies, he shifted to photography, graduating in Photography and New Media from Focus School of Art. His early career as a Portrait and Documentary Photographer laid the foundation for his cinematic eye, before he pursued a degree in Filmmaking at Metropolitan College in 2013.
After graduation, Yannis gained valuable experience as a Focus Puller and Camera Operator in feature films, steadily building a strong technical background. Soon, he transitioned into the role of Director of Photography, where he found his true creative voice.
His portfolio spans commercial campaigns, fashion films, short films, and documentaries, as well as theater productions where he has also worked as a Light Designer. Notable collaborations include the energy group Mytilineos, the Poreia theater, and the acclaimed ERT TV series “To Dihty”, where he signed the cinematography for both seasons.
Yannis’s work blends precision and atmosphere, driven by the belief that light and framing are not just technical choices, but essential storytelling tools. Whether for corporate, fashion, or narrative projects, his aim is always the same: to create images that resonate.
